Add trip planning capabilities to OneBusAway
i suggest you somehow let people know when you're not geting live data from metro. the mybus.org site has 'no info' for busses so you should be clear in both the interface and on your web home page that the data is only useless schedule data.
Hello I love ur program but I'm having an issue with one of the routes for some reason bus 60 does not show up on the app but it is still running. I tried reinstalling but that didn't work.
From the list or route map view I'd like to select my stop and then be alerted (sound and/or vibration) when my stop is next so I know when to request a stop.
Great for people new to the area or that daydream on the bus. Never miss your stop again.
Would be nice to search, filter, and bookmark only express routes.
It would be nice to have voice recognition. For those who are sight impaired.
If you could make this app available for blackberrys that would great!!!
Ok this is a nice to have rider Alert UC. I'm sitting in Solstice on the Ave enjoying my latte. I need to get to Capital Hill using the 48 around 10 am. I can see the next two times for the 48. These are too early for my departure. So it would be great to get an alert for a selected 48 bus that picks up closer to 10 am. I maximize my time in Solstice and minimize my time at the bus stop.
There hasn't been any real time information on route 48 for the past week or two. any reason why it's down?
I really love this app- I use it every day. Occasionally, I end up needing to reinstall the app due to a restore or something similar for my device. I believe there may be APIs for enabling cloud services to sync data from the app, and I really think getting this going would be great! Not only would this be beneficial for those who need to re-download the app, but additionally useful for those with multiple devices wishing ...more »
We waited for the 773 that your app said would arrive at 9:45. It did but would not pick up paaengers. Next bus is another 25 minutes. Bummer! My wife wants to go get the car and drive!
It would be nice to show arrival times with more precision. The difference between 5 minutes and 4 minutes is huge. Showing the estimated time more precisely would allow these to be distinguished. I know that the accuracy would be somewhat unrealistic, but the distinction would still be helpful.
Is there a way, or could you add one, to change the notification sound?
This was a previous function that was very nicely usable when planning a trip. It would be great if it could come back!
I was in every stop window if you scrolled down, it made it very easy to flow to your next stop and see a connecting bus time!
Choose multiple languages within the app
OBA currently saves and backup to local storage. When a device is changed, starred stops and profile data must be setup all over again. If OBA saved to the cloud, users could setup once and use everywhere.
iPhone and web based data not consistant. Refreshed simultaneously, same bus stop same direction. ie. my iPhone will say 22 minutes arrival time, and web will say 24 minutes. Here's the copied data from web:
STEVENS WAY & OKANAOGAN LN
Stop # 75417 - E bound
Show all arrivals
route destination minutes
11:38 - on time 24
I would like to have the option to search for a route based on the current location. I am able to see all the route but not a route or address to search for and get suggestion
The new interface isn't as intuitive as the old one. It may be a glitch but I was unable to select the bus stop and see what routes were leavinf and when. i had to actually map it out and it still wouldn't allow me to see what times the other routes were cming in.
Allow the choice of backgorund maps to include OpenStreetMap and possibly Bing Maps as well. This would work well on in the iPhone/Android appications. OpenStreetMaps in particular allows users to add in the Public Transport information which can be shown as a layer (see the Offmaps2 application as an example). The use of OpenStreetMaps in particular would make the OneBusAway experience a truley open source one.
Remove ideas from this list that have already been implemented
I use OneBusAway on my iPad and Android phones, and I see that I can use it on my PC too. It would be great if I could sync them all together.
Continue showing estimated data when connections are lost. Right now OneBusAway may display the same time for ten minutes and then jump straight from 15 minutes to 5 when you refresh. Oops. With AJAX it is entirely possible to have the web page continue updating the information wih no new information from the server. This 'dead-reckoning' data would gradually become out of date (and this should be indicated) but it would ...more »
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I was trying to contact a representative to shower you with praises but the contact page doesn't work so instead I'll just post it here. Not even the King Country Metro site has the bus times for my bus stop (nor are they listed at the stop) and before OneBusAway it was a total gamble if I would see a bus in one minute or thirty. Especially since I have to walk a mile to get to the stop, having the ...more »
The "scheduled arrival" tag is a polite way for OBA to say "For whatever reason, we can't tell you just know the actual status of this particular bus." Once you know what it means, this is useful information.
